Visitation Guidelines
Welcome to visiting our hospital, whether to see mom and baby, a surgery or cancer patient.Woman’s Visitation Guidelines
- Visiting hours are 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM, except for the NICU and AICU, where visiting hours are 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Parents with infants in the NICU may visit at any time.
- Any visitors who have been exposed to an illness or have a fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat or other symptoms of illness are asked not to enter the hospital.
- All visitors are required to check in at the front desk. Visitors aged 16 or older will be required to present a valid form of identification and sign in with security to receive their visitor badge.
- All minors must be accompanied by an adult, other than the patient, at all times.
- Smoking, alcohol, firearms or other weapons are not allowed anywhere on the hospital’s campus.
- We have zero tolerance for threatening or aggressive behavior. Visitors who refuse to adhere to the hospital policies or behave in a disruptive manner will be asked to leave the premises and may not be allowed reentry.
Contact a Patient
- To contact a patient, please call the operator at 225-927-1300. Calls will only be forwarded to the patient's room between 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM.
- Only outgoing calls can be made by patients in Labor and Delivery or Surgery from the telephone in the room; the telephone cannot receive incoming calls.
- Labor and Delivery rooms: A maximum of four visitors (regardless of age) may be present while a patient is in labor, during delivery, and recovery.
- Children:
- Are allowed to visit in the Labor and Delivery area under adult supervision (other than the patient).
- During delivery, the adult supervision must be an adult not attending delivery.
- The patient’s children are allowed to visit any time during the patient’s stay in Labor and Delivery. Other children must visit during visiting hours (7:00 AM to 9:00 PM).
- Prep/Recovery room: A maximum of two visitors may be present.
- Labor and Delivery Operating room: A maximum of two adult visitors may be present.
- The number of people may be limited at the discretion of the patient’s physician at any time. If any unforeseen complications occur, family/visitors may be asked to leave the patient’s room.
- One support person (14 years and older) may stay with patient overnight.
- Children may not stay overnight.
- Patients are allowed to have two visitors while in surgery areas including pre-op, surgery, recovery, and post-op.
- Patients are allowed to have four visitors on the inpatient surgery unit during visiting hours (7:00 AM - 9:00 PM)
- One support person (14 years and older) may stay with the patient overnight.
- NICU/PICU parents are welcomed in the NICU/PICU 24/7. Siblings, visitors, and support persons may visit from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
- All parents, siblings and visitors are required to check in at the main hospital entrance front desk to receive their visitor badge in addition to the NICU front desk.
- Parents must first complete the NICU/PICU Family Support Visitor Identification Form, listing all siblings and designated visitors. The front desk technician will verify this list prior to allowing entry into the NICU/PICU.
- Siblings must be at least 2 years old to enter the NICU/PICU and must be accompanied by parents at all time.
- If there is only one parent visiting, one additional visitor may assist with visiting children.
- Only two visitors (12 years or older) at a time are allowed at the bedside per family, regardless of single/multiple birth.
- Visitors and siblings will be screened for illness at the NICU/PICU front desk prior to entering the unit. If you or your child are not feeling well, please remain at home. Individuals with any upper respiratory symptoms or fever will not be permitted to visit.

- Patients are allowed to have two visitors during visiting hours (9:00 AM to 9:00 PM) if their condition allows.
- One support person (14 years and older) may stay with patient overnight.
- Your visitor will be asked to go to the AICU family room during certain procedures.
- No outside food or drinks are allowed in the patient's room.
- During an emergency situation, all visitors will be asked to leave the unit. Once the emergency is clear, the visitor will be allowed to return to the bedside.
- One adult visitor is allowed during infusion.
- Check with your provider for visitation policies during all other clinic appointments and services.
