Gov. Landry and State Legislators Proclaim Woman’s Hospital Day in Louisiana

Woman’s Hospital President and CEO Rene Ragas was joined yesterday by state legislators, members of the Louisiana Department of Health, and hospital leadership, at the State Capitol to celebrate Governor Jeff Landry and lawmakers officially declaring May 19 as Woman’s Hospital Day in Louisiana. The proclamation recognizes Woman’s for reaching the significant milestone of delivering its 400,000th baby on March 15, 2025. Senator Franklin Foil and Representative Barbara Freiberg each authored resolutions in their respective chambers to officially mark the occasion as well.

“We are grateful to Governor Landry, Sen. Foil, Rep. Freiberg, and all lawmakers for honoring our team in this way,” said Ragas. “Founded specifically to help improve the health of women and infants, we have been building on that foundation for more than five decades. We are both grateful for the trust communities statewide have put in us and are committed to continuing to provide compassionate and excellent care to families for generations to come.”

“The impact of Woman’s Hospital is far reaching when you consider the number of babies delivered there and then include their family members,” said Sen. Foil. “We are beyond proud to recognize such a long standing organization dedicated to providing top notch healthcare to all patients.”

“Woman’s Hospital is a standout provider, and the fact that so many have chosen to start and grow their families with the help of the doctors, nurses, and staff there is a testament to the tremendous care they provide,” said Rep. Freiberg. “
