Woman’s Delivers Compassionate, Evidence-Based Care

As women, you make most of the health care decisions for your loved ones. You want to know you and your family are getting the highest quality care with a personal touch. But how do you measure quality?

Woman’s Hospital collects and tracks data to ensure you get the most effective, proven cancer care. It’s called evidence-based medicine. Here’s a short overview of how it works.

  • Our data system collects, manages and analyzes data about the people we diagnose and treat for cancer.
  • That data is used in hospital, physician and site-specific studies; cancer education programs, and patient care evaluations.
  • Cases that meet registry criteria are abstracted, coded and staged according to American College of Surgeons’ guidelines.
  • Data is transferred to the Baton Rouge Regional Tumor Registry for editing, follow-up and analysis.
  • The cancer program coordinator at Woman's Hospital is a member of the National Cancer Registrars Association and the Louisiana Cancer Registrars Association
