Summary

V. Keith Rhynes, MD, MBA, FACS was born in Paragould, Arkansas, and grew up in Marksville, Louisiana. He attended Louisiana State University here in Baton Rouge where he obtained his Bachelor of Science and later went to Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport where he received his Doctorate of Medicine.
Dr. Rhynes completed his internship and residency at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport in General Surgery as well as research in Transplantation and Immunology. He then attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham as a fellow in liver and renal transplant surgery and was an Assistant Professor of Surgery there until moving back to Baton Rouge in 1997.
Dr. Rhynes has been a member of the Surgeon’s Group of Baton Rouge since 1999. He is a member of the Southeastern Surgical Congress, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Louisiana Surgical Society and the Society for Laparoscopic Surgery as well as the American Hernia Society and the American Society of Transplant Surgeons.

Special Interests

Dr. Rhynes has authored articles in both transplant surgery as well as minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgery.

He continues to teach surgery as he is a clinical assistant professor within the LSU Department of Surgery.

His primary interests are advanced minimally invasive surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, hernia repair, all aspects of breast cancer surgery, surgery of the thyroid and parathyroid, as well as surgery for reflux.
