Special Interests

After several years of practicing medicine, I realized I wanted to be able to provide my patients with better answers to their health concerns and desire to live the healthiest life possible.  So, I founded Mint Health, the only medical practice in Baton Rouge to combine the enlightened full-body wellness of Functional Medicine with my practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Mint Health is a unique (and fun!) place for health care for many reasons.

As an Obstetrician, I care deeply about teaching you the best ways to stay well, promote the best health for your baby (lifelong health starts in the womb!), and to have the prenatal and birth experience that you and your baby need.  To that end, I work with a Certified Nurse Midwife and Holistic Health Coach in my practice.  We offer free lunchtime classes to our patients before and throughout pregnancy to teach you about extremely important topics you probably don’t know are important, and won’t learn anywhere else!  A few of them include: the importance of your microbiome (which is your body’s healthy bacteria) and how & why you pass that on to your baby, the amazing impact of functional nutrition and essential oils, and the necessity of attention to daily detoxification before pregnancy, throughout, and even during breastfeeding.

As a Gynecologist, I offer the full range of conventional care to women of all ages, including evaluation for fertility problems, pelvic pain or pain with sex, difficult menstrual periods, infections, menopause, PMS/PMDD, hormonal imbalance, contraception, and metabolic issues. I love talking with women, and one of my special knacks is to help people feel comfortable with difficult things.  As a bonus, my knowledge of Functional Medicine helps me give better answers for metabolic concerns, inflammatory conditions, and hormone imbalance and replacement (including thyroid) for pre- and post-menopausal women. Always, I strive to treat women in the least invasive method possible, but when surgery is required, I am skilled in Endometrial Ablation, Laparoscopy, and Physician Assisted Robotic Surgery for hysterectomy, ovarian surgery, and other needs.

Lastly, I am not only an OB/GYN, I am also a Functional Medicine provider.  Functional Medicine is not just “natural” medicine or even Integrative Medicine. It is a unique approach to healthcare in which we get to the root causes of your problems rather than only cover up symptoms with medications and/or procedures (which is the typical approach in conventional care).

I use advanced functional testing and nutrition and lifestyle adjustments to help you feel better now AND prevent diseases down the road. Functional Medicine is revolutionary and is truly for everyone, but it does take more time between provider and patient to put into action! To allow for this time, I offer community driven Wellness Programs and Functional Medicine Memberships to help us really tackle getting you optimally well and feeling your best. Register to attend one of our free seminars for more information, or request a Functional Medicine Consult when you call our office.

Mint Health is not just a doctor’s office. We are a community of like-minded individuals who believe in better health for all of us now, and believe in working together to create better health for our children and future generations. I look forward to having you as part of our Mint Health community!
