Specializing exclusively in Breast Cancer Surgery
Dr. Bowie is a Breast Surgical Oncologist who specializes in only breast cancer surgeries. She is certified in Hidden Scar™ breast surgery and her expertise is in nipple-sparing mastectomies and oncoplastic breast surgery. Dr. Bowie is active in breast cancer research and prevention, and has been published in several breast cancer journals.
She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She served as the Cancer Liaison Physician for the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Dr. Bowie is an active member of the Society of Surgical Oncology and the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
Dr. Bowie attended Louisiana State University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Master of Science degree. Upon graduation, she continued at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, where she attended medical school (2004) and completed her general surgery residency (2009).
She then completed a Breast Surgical Oncology fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla. She joined the Memorial Cancer Institute at Memorial Hospital in South Florida, where she practiced as a Breast Surgical Oncologist prior to moving back to Louisiana.
She currently chairs the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, the Breast Ad Hoc Committee, and the Breast Multidisciplinary Care Team at Woman’s Hospital. She also served as a board member to the Women's Breast Health Initiative of South Florida. She has participated in research and has multiple publications in breast cancer journals.
She is married and has two children.
