Summary

In September 2019, Pamela Simmons joined the Woman’s Maternal-Fetal Medicine Clinic where she assists in providing Louisiana’s most advanced diagnosis and fetal interventions. As a high risk physician, Dr. Simmons shares with her patients that her job is to safely manage their pregnancy. She will care for her unborn child’s fetal complications, as well as the mother's medical complications. She understands the importance of listening to and understanding every woman’s situation, and strives to educate every patient on their condition and set expectations.

Dr. Simmons has a special interest in surgical management for placenta accreta/percreta.

Dr. Simmons, who is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, completed her OB-GYN residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria and finished her fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Ark.

Dr. Simmons received her Bachelor of Science degree from Avila University in Kansas City, Mo. She went on to obtain her master of public health degree from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Mo., followed by her osteopathic medicine degree from Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, Ariz. She is active in several professional societies, currently a Junior Fellow with the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists and a member of the Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.

Dr. Simmons' husband Jake is a teacher at BASIS Baton Rouge and they have two children. As a family, they often explore the outdoors - hiking, fishing and bicycling. Learning about the unique south Louisiana culture has been an added adventure for her family.
