Summary

Burl Forgey, IV, M.D., has been a practicing psychiatrist in Louisiana for over twenty-five years. A native Louisianan and graduate of LSU Medical School in New Orleans, Dr. Forgey completed his residency at the Alton Ochsner Psychiatry training program. Board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, he served as a staff psychiatrist of the OLOL Family Center and the OLOL Stem Cell Transplant Program before founding Psychiatry Associates of Baton Rouge with Dr. Enrique Flechas in 2001. Since starting Psychiatry Associates of Baton Rouge, Dr. Forgey has also served as the medical director at both St. Elizabeth’s Senior Care geriatric acute psychiatric unit and Jefferson Oaks Behavioral Health intensive outpatient program, and as an assistant professor of clinical psychiatry at the LSU Health Sciences Center.

With more than twenty-five years of experience, Dr. Forgey specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of adults with anxiety, depression, postpartum depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, insomnia, anger problems, schizophrenia, and addictions.  Dr. Forgey is currently accepting new patients exclusively on referral from Woman's Hospital Obstetrics.
