Summary

Dr. Alec Hirsch graduated from Tulane Medical School and completed his residency in general surgery at Marshall University School of Medicine.

He has been practicing general surgery in Baton Rouge for 28 years for women, men and adolescent children.

Dr. Hirsch is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

He also instructs third-year students from Tulane Medical School.

Dr Hirsch has previously served as chief of general surgery at Woman’s Hospital.

Special Interests

Dr. Hirsch’s special interests include gallbladder disease, thyroid surgery, hernia surgery, soft tissue tumors, general surgical problems in peri-partum patients. He is accepting new patients including women, men and adolescent children.

Dr Hirsch can perform outpatient surgeries on women and men such as: screening colonoscopies, hernia repair, minor skin lesions and intestinal surgery.

He places ports for chemotherapy.

He performs muscle and nerve biopsies for diagnosing purpose by referral from neurologists.
