Dr. Christian specializes only in breast cancer surgeries. She was one of the first surgeons in Louisiana to perform breast ductocopy and placement of catheters for partial breast radiation. She pursues all avenues of care, including genetic risk assessment. Diagnosed with a BRCA mutation herself, Dr. Christian strongly encourages testing and education particularly through lifestyle changes that can reduce the risk of breast cancer and improve overall health.
Dr. Christian is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and an active member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. She has performed more than 5,000 breast procedures throughout her career. A graduate of Wofford College and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Dr. Christian earned her medical degree in 1988. She completed a general surgery residency at the University of Kentucky in 1993. Prior to relocating to Louisiana in 2003, Dr. Christian practiced in South Carolina and served in the Indian Health Service at the Alaska Native Medical Center. She is married and has three daughters.
