For the second consecutive year, Woman’s earned the Birth Ready+ Designation from the Louisiana Perinatal Quality Collaborative (LaPQC) for its efforts in promoting safe, equitable and dignified birth for all birthing persons. Woman’s is one of only nine birthing facilities in Louisiana to receive the advanced designation.

“At Woman’s, patients receive safe, equitable and high-quality care through every step of their journeys,” said Amye Reeves, director of obstetrical services at Woman’s Hospital. “Earning the Birth Ready+ Designation for the second consecutive year shows that we work diligently each and every day to ensure patients have access to a highly trained care team that meets their individual health needs.”

The Birth Ready Designation is a system that reinforces and ensures birthing facilities are implementing best practices to improve maternal health and outcomes for women and infants. To achieve designation, facilities met the criteria in five dimensions, including implementation of policies and procedures, promoting patient partnership and addressing health disparities and equity.

Through its work with LaPQC, Woman’s has adopted evidence-based practices and standards including ongoing risk assessments for hemorrhage, timely treatment of hypertension, employee participation in trainings, drills and educational sessions, health equity training and more.
