BATON ROUGE, La. -- Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) physician, R. Clifton “Cliff” Moore, MD, has moved into the role of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Woman’s Hospital. An expert in fetal therapy and surgery, Dr. Moore will continue to practice in the Woman’s MFM Clinic part-time, while shifting half of his time to CMO duties.

As CMO, Dr. Moore will be responsible for leading clinical quality initiatives, while also working closely with medical staff to ensure that providers have the tools and resources they need so that Woman’s continues to deliver the best and safest care to patients.

An Elm Grove, La., native, Dr. Moore joined Woman’s as an MFM physician in 2016. He is an expert in caring for babies with complex cases, such as spina bifida, twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome and congenital heart disease, among others. He was instrumental in Woman’s becoming the first hospital in Louisiana to join the North American Fetal Therapy Network (NAFTNet) in 2019, which has allowed the hospital to better collaborate with other leaders in fetal therapy across North America and provide the best outcomes for patients using evidence-based practices and leading-edge technologies.

“Dr. Moore is committed to the health of women and infants in our state,” said Barbara Griffith, MD, president and CEO of Woman’s Hospital. “His expertise in caring for high-risk pregnant women and their babies, along with his dedication to Woman’s and our mission, make him an exceptional choice for this role. I look forward to the impact he will have in working with our medical staff and in bringing Woman’s into our new future.”

Dr. Moore completed his medical degree at LSUHSC-Shreveport, and his internship and Ob-Gyn residency at University Medical Center in Jackson, Miss. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Magee Women’s Hospital at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
