Organization adds measures to ensure COVID-safe environment

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Woman’s Hospital will expand available services beginning on May 4 while taking extra steps to keep staff and patients safe. Services resuming include:

  • Elective surgery
  • Cancer screening (colonoscopy, mammography)
  • Imaging services (CT, MRI)
  • Outpatient laboratory services
  • Physical and speech therapy
  • Nutrition counseling
  • Appointments will now be required for all imaging and lab work to meet social distancing requirements.

Woman’s continues to provide COVID testing at Woman’s Center for Wellness for symptomatic pregnant women. Testing is being expanded to include patients prior to surgery and delivery.

“We are fortunate that our campus has experienced limited exposure to COVID-19,” said Barbara Griffith, MD, president and CEO of Woman’s Hospital. “Health screenings are important, so we urge patients to resume their regular exams. We want them to know that they can safely have these done at Woman’s.”

Everyone inside Woman’s Hospital is required to wear a mask for extra protection. Woman’s has also reassigned staff to ensure a COVID-safe environment. These employees are now responsible for continuously cleaning all public areas including elevators, entrances, waiting rooms, chairs, countertops, doors, etc., using the same hospital-grade disinfectants as in clinical areas of the facility.
