SipScreen

On Saturday, August 18 from noon to 4 p.m., Radio Bar will host Sip and Screen, where women 40 and older can get a mammogram on-site. Every woman screened will also enjoy a free mimosa. Free clinical breast exams performed by a physician or nurse practitioner will be offered for women 18 and older.

Woman’s Hospital and Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center will provide mammograms and clinical breast exams in the privacy and comfort of the organizations’ mobile medical units, which will be located in the parking lot of Radio Bar, 3079 Government Street, Suite B. Insurance will be billed for mammograms; there will be no charge for women without insurance.

While participants sip on mimosas donated by Radio Bar and Kleinpeter Farms Dairy and enjoy delicious bites by Simple Joe’s Cafe, they can view a showcase of bras created for Woman’s annual BUST Breast Cancer event. BUST Breast Cancer is a bra art fashion show that raises funds for early detection efforts through Woman’s Mammography Coaches. BUST Breast Cancer will be held on Wednesday, September 26 at L’Auberge Casino and Hotel in Baton Rouge and is underwritten by Arkel and Capital One.

Since 2002, the organizations have screened more than 60,000 women for breast cancer on the mobile units – all made possible through generous community support and events like BUST Breast Cancer.
