Woman’s Hospital Named a Recipient of the Good Growth Award
The Baton Rouge Growth Coalition presented Woman’s Hospital with a Good Growth Award at the 2016 Good Growth Awards Gala held on Thursday, October 13. The biennial awards program recognized 13 projects and developers that have “raised the bar of development” in the Greater Baton Rouge Area.
In 2012, Woman’s Hospital moved to its current location, the corner of Stumberg Extension and Airline Highway, in order to better meet the needs of the community. Through careful development, Woman’s created a facility designed on family-centered care while respecting the natural environment. The Woman’s campus was designed by the architect firm HKS; engineered by ccrd Partners and Stantec; contractors Arkel Contractors, Milton J. Womack and JEDunn.
This award acknowledges the impact of the move of Woman’s campus to southeast East Baton Rouge Parish, and it paves the way for continued growth on the campus through an expansion of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit opening in January 2017 and the development of a specialized breast and GYN cancer center opening in early 2018.
The Baton Rouge Growth Coalition is dedicated to good growth in East Baton Rouge Parish and the Greater Baton Rouge area by informing and equipping members of the community with best practices in development. Knowing that developers play a vital role in the health of an economy, the goal of the Good Growth Awards is to promote well calculated, risk-reducing practices while encouraging thoughtfulness and innovation.
Other projects honored with Good Growth awards included: 1010 Nic, 440 on Third, 450 Main Street, Cajun Industries office expansion, Creative Bloc, Dupree Apartments, IBM mixed-used complex, Model Block, River Road transformation project, The Advocate headquarters, Long Farm and the Taylor Porter rooftop garden.
