For the second straight year, Woman’s Hospital was recognized by the Louisiana Hospital Association as one of three 2014 Safety Star Award recipients. Woman’s received the award for implementing Mobilab technology in inpatient areas. This system allows the hospital to improve the accuracy of patient identification, eliminate delays and decrease the need for specimen relabeling.
The LHA Malpractice and General Liability Trust Fund present the Safety Star Award each year to healthcare facilities that have "successfully implemented ideas or processes which have led to the reduction of general or professional liability exposure in technology use, process improvement or patient safety initiatives," according to the LHA.
The hospital will be recognized at the LHA Summer Conference in July. In addition, Woman's will receive paid conference registration and expenses to attend the conference and a $5,000 award to the hospital.
Woman’s received the Star Safety Award in 2013 for its Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) process to proactively identify risks prior to its move to its current location in August 2012. The LHA Trust Funds has served Louisiana healthcare facilities and physicians with insurance solutions for more than three decades.
