Joey's JAR for Change
Joey Roth, founder of JAR for Change, started saving money to help sick babies fighting for their lives at Woman’s Hospital. Joey started JAR for Change when he was 7 years old. He has taken the project from a mason jar in his bedroom to a community-wide effort, raising more than $11,000 to date for Woman’s Hospital where he was born.
With the donations from JAR for Change, Woman’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is able to provide IPADS for Joey Time, a Facetime experience for families who cannot be with their baby in the NICU. He has also supported advanced training for nurses on specialized care for micro-preemie babies.
“My experience with Joey Time was amazing and well appreciated. After having my baby, I was unable to see her because she was transported to the NICU and I was transported to the ICU. It is every mother’s dream to see and hold her child after birth. I did not get that chance; however, thanks to Joey Time, I received the next best gift. Joey Time allowed me to see my daughter, as well as the nurse taking excellent care of her. I was able to ask questions and get answers about the well-being of my daughter. The entire experience was extremely reassuring and invaluable to me, a mother.”
