LEARNING OBJECTIVES: At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss awareness of body mechanics with daily occupational tasks for healthcare employees.
  2. Identify ergonomic flaws and adjust workstation set-up.
  3. Describe postural awareness and body mechanics in patient care, environmental services, and in an in office setting to decrease risk of pain and injury.
  4. Perform proper abdominal activation to promote safe lifting, pushing and patient transferring.
  5. Demonstrate proper diaphragmatic breathing at rest and eliminate Valsalva with strenuous tasks.
