Performs to DIEP Flap Procedure for breast reconstruction, which uses the patient’s own abdominal tissue to remake the breast without sacrificing the abdominal muscles, as was the case in older procedures.

In addition to the DIEP flap, Dr. Dean offers the complete spectrum of breast reconstruction options.  He was the first surgeon in Louisiana to use the latest AirXpander breast reconstruction device which allows patients to have their expanders filled without needle sticks and without traveling back for office visits in order to have the expansions performed.

Dr. Dean offers a complete array of cosmetic procedures which can either be done separately or can be done in combination with gynecologic, urologic, general and breast surgeries, that are being done with insurance coverage. The latter allows the patient to combine the recovery and risks of these procedures by getting everything done at one time.

He also has a strong interest in pediatric plastic surgery having travelled the world doing volunteer missions where primarily Cleft Lip and Palate repairs are done.  These procedures are routinely performed at Woman’s Hospital where not only Dr. Dean, but also the Operating Room and Nursing staff have a lot of experience in caring for these patients.
