Breastfeeding is Healthy, Nurturing and Rewarding

Congratulations on your decision to breastfeed your new baby. We know you will find breastfeeding a happy, rewarding experience, and our staff is eager to help and support you in whatever way possible. Human breast milk is the perfect food for a baby. It can help prevent disease, provide optimum nutrition, promote healthy growth and development, and even lower the risks of allergy and dental problems.

Woman's the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) advocate breastfeeding as the most desirable form of nutrition for infants and recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of your baby’s life. Woman's also supports breastfeeding opinions by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine [pdf].

Woman's is eager to support and encourage you in your breastfeeding, and has been designated by the Department of health and Hospitals as a GIFT (Guided Infant Feeding Techniques) hospital and a "Bag Free" hospital by the Louisiana Breastfeeding Coalition.

Breast milk is a wonderful gift to you baby that only you can provide.
