Woman’s is the only hospital in the Baton Rouge region to offer state-of-the-art Triple Mammogram Review. Our mammograms are reviewed by two board-certified radiologists and our state-of-the-art Computer-Aided Detection (CAD) System at no extra cost to you. These extra steps enable us to find breast cancer in its earliest stages, when it’s most curable.
|In our more than 40,000 mammograms performed in 2012, 16 additional cases of breast cancer were identified as a result of our triple read.|
Computer-Aided Detection (CAD)
Although a mammogram is an excellent way to find most breast cancers when they are small and most curable, it does not detect all breast cancers. As a result, Woman’s has adopted the latest technology to make mammograms as accurate as possible.
Computer-Aided Detection and Diagnosis (CAD) was developed to help radiologists find suspicious changes on mammograms.
Computers can help doctors find abnormal areas on a mammogram by acting as a third set of eyes for Woman’s patients. With a digital mammogram, the computer displays the picture on a video screen, with markers pointing to areas the radiologist should check more closely.
Woman’s uses its Computer-Aided Detection technique on each of the more than 40,000 mammograms performed every year.
