Mr. Smith joined us in January 1994 as a Financial Analyst in the Accounting department, was promoted to Director of Accounting in 1997, to Vice President Support Services in 2002 and to Vice President Finance in 2009. Mr. Smith has oversight of finance, patient accounting, managed care, operational excellence, admissions/registration, materials management, and medical audit. Additionally, he oversaw the replacement hospital campus equipment planning process. Mr. Smith received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, in 1990, with a major in Finance. Mr. Smith obtained his Masters of Business Administration from the University of New Orleans in 1999 with a concentration in Health Care Management. Prior to joining the Foundation, he served as a staff accountant with Louisiana Rehabilitation Services, an agency in the Louisiana Department of Social Services. He is a graduate of the Leadership Greater Baton Rouge Program (2005-2006) and Leadership Louisiana (2013). Mr. Smith served as a board member and finance committee member for Girl Scouts, Audubon Council (2005-2008) and was a member of the Girl Scouts USA Council Realignment Committee for the 23 parish area (2007-2008). Mr. Smith served on the board, finance committee, and facility committee of Family Road of Greater Baton Rouge (2003-2009). He served as a member of the Capital Area United Way Community Investment Council (2003-2010). Mr. Smith serves on the board of St. Thomas More Catholic School and is chair of the finance committee (2008-present).
