Medical Nutrition Therapy

for Infants, Children, Adolescents, and Women
Registered dietitians (RD’s) are nutritional professionals trained in the use of nutrition to prevent and control disease. The RD’s at Woman’s Hospital counsel individuals and family members of infants, children, adolescents, and women on a variety of nutrition topics through Medical Nutrition Therapy sessions.

For infant and toddler feeding needs, allow our team or RD's and pedictric occupational therapists to work together to customize care for your child and you.
These topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Obesity
  • Celiac Disease
  • Hypertension
  • High Cholesterol
  • Failure to Thrive
  • Food Allergies
  • Lactose Intolerance
  • Kidney Disease
  • Diabetes
  • Sports Nutrition
  • Cancer
  • Healthy Eating

A physician referral is required prior to Medical Nutrition Therapy sessions with a registered dietitian. Many insurance plans now cover this service, so be sure to check with your provider to determine eligibility.

What is included in a Medical Nutrition Therapy session?
The therapy session includes a complete nutrition assessment, which involves:

  • Review and analysis of diet
  • Review of medical history
  • Discussion of laboratory test results
  • Evaluation and discussion of body measurements
  • Planning of meals and diet modifications
  • Counseling on lifestyle and behavioral factors

A follow-up session or ongoing nutrition monitoring may be needed to achieve a desired health outcome.
