Your Recovery from Surgery

Our self-help tips after surgery will guide you for comfort measures after surgery during your hospital stay. Our goal is to help you reach a tolerable level of pain control. You will start turning in bed, doing deep breathing exercises and doing leg exercises. Part of your recovery may involve sensitivity of your bowel and bladder function.

Your recovery and care will continue after going home. Your nurse will give you detailed instructions that will help you once you go home. You may have questions about when to call your doctor or your medication. After surgery you may have questions or need advice to deal with your feelings, personal care and care for your scar. Even upon returning home, you may have special instructions for eating and drinking, as well as activity and exercise.
