Weight Loss Surgery: Costs and Financing

On average, self pay or cash pay fees for laparoscopic weight loss surgery procedures, which vary based on surgeon fees and/or additional testing required, are:

  • Gastric banding: $15,000
  • Sleeve gastrectomy: $14,500
  • Roux-en-Y (gastric bypass): $21,000

Fees are subject to change without notification

For some, bariatric surgery is covered by their health insurance plan. Because every insurance policy is unique, it's important that you thoroughly understand your Certificate of Coverage to know exactly what is and what isn't covered by your plan. With minimal personal information, Woman’s staff is prepared to review your insurance coverage for coverage and your financial patient responsibility. To request more information, contact our Bariatric Surgery Coordinator >>

People who do not have insurance coverage for bariatric surgery will be self-pay or cash-pay. Many people feel that the surgery is worth the investment in their health and seek out alternative financing options such as home equity loans or medical loans.  Patient financing is a popular payment option that helps individuals finally afford weight loss surgery and take that first step to a healthier lifestyle, all while making manageable monthly payments.

Financing Options

Woman’s Hospital is happy to announce financing options through Bayou Federal Credit Union, Campus Federal Credit Union and Iberia Bank. Please contact the lending financial institution directly to determine if you qualify.
