Woman’s Thanks Leadership Donors for Support
March 26, 2013
On Saturday, March 16, Woman’s Hospital offered a sincere “thank you” to many of its major donors at an early evening celebration. The Leadership Donor Recognition Reception, held in the new hospital’s glass-enclosed lobby, allowed Woman’s to express its appreciation to donors and acknowledge their generosity. Speakers included Teri Fontenot, president and CEO, Woman’s Hospital; Dr. Frank Breaux, chair-elect, Woman’s Hospital Board of Directors; and Amy Benton, a grateful Woman’s patient.
Special thanks to The Fabre Group, who underwrote the event, and to Lance Hayes Flowers, who donated the floral decorations. Event decorations included “tickled pink” photos of guests’ babies and grandbabies.
Teri Fontenot spoke about the importance of philanthropic support for Woman’s. As a non-profit organization, Woman’s faces many challenges due to the changing face of healthcare, and with donors’ help, the organization is able to continue to address critical community issues such as HIV/AIDS, low birth weight babies and sexual assault.
Amy Benton, former patient and vice president of marketing at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, spoke about her son. He is now a healthy three-year-old, but was born at 26 weeks and spent four months in Woman’s Newborn and Infant Intensive Care Unit (NICU).) Benton thanked the donors and emphasized the impact it makes on individual lives.
