Laura Juneau Quinn Room Dedicated during National Adoption Month
To Celebrate National Adoption Month the St. Elizabeth Foundation joined Woman’s Hospital in the dedication of the Laura Juneau Quinn Bonding Room which the Foundation donated to honor the memory of Laura Juneau Quinn. Along with her husband, Dr. Michael Quinn, Laura was a long time St. Elizabeth Foundation volunteer who provided cradle care for the adoption agency. A hospital bonding room provides an opportunity for adoptive parents to experience their newly formed family and the precious first moments with their baby.
On Sunday, November 11th, friends and family of Laura Juneau Quinn along with representatives of Woman’s Hospital and St. Elizabeth Foundation gathered to dedicate the Laura Juneau Quinn Bonding Room at the new Woman’s Hospital on Woman's Way in Baton Rouge. This event held during National Adoption Month was to honor and celebrate the memory of a remarkable, unselfish woman whose first joy was life and second was to nurture it. Her children all said, “Mom was happiest when she was rocking a baby.”
For their volunteer work, Laura and Dr. Michael Quinn, were recognized in 2010 by Senator Mary Landrieu as the recipient of the prestigious national Angels in Adoption Award. The Quinn family traveled to Washington to accept the award.
Teri Casso, Director of St. Elizabeth Foundation, said, “Laura walked the walk and contributed her time, talent and energy to provide new beginnings for countless birthmothers, babies and adoptive families. We celebrate her life!”
November is National Adoption Month. This month and throughout the year, St. Elizabeth Foundation encourages all families to open their hearts and spirit to a heightened awareness of adoption as a way to build a permanent, loving, nurturing family for a child in need of one.
