Woman’s Hospital Announces Revised Opening Date
4/12/2012 - Woman’s announced that a decision has been made to delay the opening of its new hospital. “Because of concerns about the new hospital’s level of completion, we have decided to postpone the patient move originally scheduled for June 3, 2012. A key component of our transition plan was to start staff training at the new site on April 16, but the building is not ready for that training to begin. We will not jeopardize patient, physician or employee safety by expediting or abbreviating training, so we must postpone our move,” explained Teri Fontenot, Woman’s President and CEO. “Our goal is to provide an exceptional patient experience the moment we open, and by delaying our move we feel we can better meet the expectations of our patients.” Woman’s is working with its construction team to develop a revised completion schedule.
"The additional time allows Woman's team to fully prepare the new campus for the caliber of care expected at Woman's," says Teri Fontenot, Woman's President and CEO.
The previously scheduled date of June 3, 2012 was revised because the building was not complete enough in April to allow adequate time to train staff for their new work environment and ensure that all clinical systems are fully tested. Woman's administration, contractors, equipment suppliers, moving companies and Acadian Ambulance collaborated to set the new date.
