Woman's exceptional care, centered on you
Mother-to-Child HIV Case Worker Program
Louisiana has the 5th highest rate of new cases of HIV/AIDS in the nation, and Baton Rouge has the 2nd highest rate of new HIV/AIDS cases. Without intervention, up to 30% of HIV-infected pregnant women transmit the virus to their infants. Since 2005, Woman’s has not had an HIV-positive baby born to a mother enrolled in our program.
Woman's is Baton Rouge's only non-public institution providing individulized nursing case management for HIV/AIDS-infected pregnant women and their babies from diagnosis to one year after delivery. Not only does this help prevent infants from being infected with the disease, a high number of our patients continue their treatment after leaving the program, helping break the cycle.
This service is offered at no cost to the patient. It is funded through community support and individual gifts.
