Care for Victims of Sexual AssaultApril is Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Every 2 minutes, someone in the United States is sexually assaulted. 55% of the sexual assault victims who present themselves at a healthcare facility in the Baton Rouge area are treated at Woman’s. These services are provided at no cost to the victim. A board certified OB/GYN, along with a team of nurses, provides a forensic exam, medical screening, and testing, as well as compassion and support for these women.
In 2013, Woman’s Care for Victims of Sexual Assault program treated and provided clothing and toiletries for 55% of all known adult sexual assault victims in the Baton Rouge area who presented at a healthcare facility.
The Victims of Sexual Assault program is just one example of the vital community programs and services that Woman’s offers to women and babies including those who are underserved and underinsured.
For more information, see our 2014 Case for Support [pdf] or sign up today for a “Sip & See.” It’s a one-hour program that highlights how Woman’s and philanthropy are making a difference through community programs and services.
With the generous help and support from the community, Woman's Hospital is able to provide this critical service for women. Our most vulnerable patients need your help to continue funding for vital healthcare services that are at risk of being reduced or eliminated. We can't do it without you!
