Woman’s Thankful for Young Philanthropists

October was a special month for ten young ladies as they celebrated Halloween with a purpose. In honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the eighth-graders raised $300 for Woman’s Hospital Foundation by hosting a Halloween Costume Dance on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, which was held at The Woman’s Club; nearly 60 students attended. The young ladies attend Our Lady of Mercy Catholic School.

“Woman’s Hospital would like to offer its most sincere thanks to these young women whose generosity serves as a wonderful example to their peers and for future stewardship towards those in need,” says Lynn Weill, vice president of Woman’s development. Proceeds will be used to raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection.
