NICU Specialized Care & Education

NICU Sub-Specialty CareChallenge

  • As a Level III Regional Referral Newborn and Infant Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Woman’s provides state-of-the-art care to the sickest babies in our region.

Woman’s Response

Woman’s NICU offers specialized programs and services to enhance care and improve outcomes for sick and premature babies. For example:

  • NICU Family Support Program involves parents in the care of their newborn from the start, building parent knowledge and confidence in providing care, so that they are more capable of caring for their baby upon discharge.
  • FaceTime technology allows a new mother to see her baby in the NICU and communicate with medical staff even when she cannot be physically present
  • Specialized equipment like isolette covers that regulate and restrict light exposure and gel positioning devices that properly position baby

How it Works

  • Many of the sickest babies in this region, both those on Medicaid and those covered by private insurance, can receive the care they need without being transported elsewhere to receive services.
