At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to:

1. Describe the pathophysiology and risk factors associated with Group B Streptococcal (GBS) infection in neonates.

  2. Define appropriate maternal GBS screening and indications for intrapartum antibiotic prophylaxis.

  3. Identify dosing, administration, and side effects of antibiotics used for both maternal prophylaxis and empiric treatment of neonates with GBS infection. 

  4. Discuss key practice changes provided by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) 2019 updated guidelines.
