Susan Puyau, MD
Chief Medical Officer
Susan Puyau, MD is Woman's Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Puyau joined Woman’s in 2013 as Chief Quality Officer, and became Chief Medical Officer in 2014. She retains her appointment to Woman's medical staff as a gynecologist.
She is a graduate of St. Mary's Dominican College and Tulane University School of Medicine. She completed her Ob/Gyn residency through Tulane University in 1990. While a practicing physician since 1990, she returned to LSU and earned an executive MBA in 2000. She has served in multiple governance leadership roles at Woman's, including Chief of Staff in 2003 and Chair of the Board in 2010. She served as a physician director of Woman's board from 2005 through 2010. Dr. Puyau is gratis faculty for both LSU Medical School and Tulane University Medical School. Her community volunteer service includes the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre, with service on its board for 10 years and two years as president.
