Louisiana's Medical Assistance Programs Integrity Law requires us to let you know that the Federal Deficit Reduction Act mandates any health care facility that receives or makes an annual payment of five million dollars under the State Medicaid Plan to have detailed written policies about the Federal Claims Act (PDF) for their employees, agents and contractors. Medical Assistance Programs Integrity Law (MAPIL) and our administrative policy includes information on training, auditing, correcting, reporting and disciplining.
Employees, contractors and agents are advised that the Federal and State (MAPIL) False Claims Acts prohibit creating a false record, presenting a false claim, or making a false statement. The acts include penalties of $5,500 to $11,000 and treble damages. Whistleblowers are protected from retaliation. The hospital actively seeks detection, and prevention of errors, waste, abuse, and fraud. The administrative remedies include auditing, corrective action, reporting and discipline.
